ATHENS – Athens’ Riverfront Park was filled to the brim Friday evening for a performance by The Machine, a Pink Floyd tribute band. Hundreds turned out from all around the region to pack the park – with parking at a premium on local streets – for the performance hosted by the Athens Performing Arts Committee, or APAC. “It’s a great performance,” said Sue Graf, who traveled from Albany to see the show. “I’ve always loved Pink Floyd, and this was a great show.” Her friend Rachel Spanner agreed. “This has really been fun. It’s a nice way to spend a Friday night – the weather is great, the park is beautiful, and the band rocks on,” Spanner said. The Athens Performing Arts Committee hosts the Athens Summer Concert Series every summer in Riverfront Park. The music series is now in its 13th year.
ATHENS — After the big, stadium-style festivals Mountain Jam and Taste of Country, music fans will have the opportunity to experience more of the thrill of live performances from elite acts at Riverfront Park in Athens this summer, but with an added bonus: the concerts are free of charge.
